9th JUly 2011: We are very happy to be able to report to you that Apuraj Barooah has achieved his Guinness World Record for the longest scratch art piece. His piece is 20 metre long and 1 metre board, and contains 40 pictures of world's folk dances. Mr. Jack Brockman from Guinness World Records was very impressed. All the criteria were examined in the presence of some 45 people, and then Mr. Brockman declared the record as established. Then he presented a certificate to Apuraj. Apuraj has achieved something great today. We are all proud of him.
6th July 2011: Apuraj Barooah will start his great effort from tonight (6th July, 9.30pm) at Mahatma Gandhi Hall, YMCA, Fitzroy Square, London, in an attempt to establish a new record in the Guinness Book of Records, and establish his art form globally. He will stratch paintings continously for 60 hours. We do need to support him day and night.
Despite this short notice, please try to come tonight. And also try to be present at the time of declaration by the Guinness Book of Records. And the decalration will take place on 9th July (Saturday) at 9am.
Please spread this message to your friends, particularly to the people who live in and around London, We need help from the Assamese community. It might be an idea to ring people, as the notice is short. The venue is Mahatma Gandhi Hall of Indian YMCA which is huge and it has a beutiful stage with linen drops.
Apuraj is to work continously for 60 hours from 6/7/11, 9.30PM onwards. The painting will be completed in the early morning hours of 9/7/11. The Guinness officials confirmed their presence.
